Your information, explained clearly

Privacy Policy

This policy explains what AldSocial collects, why we use it, when other people can see it, and the choices you have. AldSocial is built to help adults meet through shared activities while limiting unnecessary exposure of personal information.

AldSocial does not sell your personal data. We do not currently use third-party advertising trackers or share personal data with data brokers. Your phone number is not published to other members, and activity chat is available only to participating members, subject to the activity workflow.

1. Who this policy covers

This Privacy Policy applies to the AldSocial browser application, public website and related services (together, the “Service”). In this policy, “AldSocial”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the operator of the AldSocial Service.

The Service is intended for adults aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly permit children to create accounts.

2. Information you provide

  • Account information, such as your email address, password or sign-in credential, name and account identifier.
  • Profile information, such as age or birth month and year, gender, city or locality, approximate location, time zone, avatar, biography and interests.
  • Activity information, including activities you create or join, venue and meeting details, availability, preferences, invitations, approvals and attendance-related actions.
  • Messages and user content shared in activity chats, profiles, reports, feedback or support requests.
  • Discovery preferences, such as activities, skill levels, schedules, distance, age or gender preferences and whether you want to be discoverable to compatible people.

3. Information collected through use of the Service

  • Location information when you choose a place, enable location access or use nearby discovery. Device permission controls whether precise device location is available.
  • Usage and technical information, such as feature interactions, timestamps, IP address, device and browser information, diagnostics and security logs.
  • Notification information, such as delivery status and your notification choices.

Browser storage

The Service uses browser storage for features such as keeping you signed in, remembering preferences, dismissing notices and preserving temporary navigation state. The browser app may also keep an encrypted local cache of activity messages so they can be shown reliably. Clearing browser data may sign you out, remove the local message cache or reset preferences. We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies or trackers.

How you found us

When you open AldSocial from one of our campaign links, such as an advert, the app remembers the campaign labels in that link (source, medium, campaign, ad and term) and the name of the website that sent you. If you then create an account, those labels are stored once with your account, so we can see which campaigns bring new members and whether they go on to use the Service. We keep only those short labels and the referring website’s name — never the full link, its other parameters or your browsing. Nothing is sent to us if you do not create an account. We do not use advertising pixels and do not share this with advertising platforms. It is deleted with your account.

4. How we use information

  • Provide, secure and maintain accounts, activities, invitations, approvals, chats and notifications.
  • Show relevant nearby activities and people based on location, interests and preferences.
  • Personalise recommendations and measure whether features work as intended.
  • Understand which of our campaigns bring new members, from the campaign labels described above.
  • Prevent spam, fraud, harassment and unsafe behaviour; investigate reports; enforce our Terms and Community Guidelines.
  • Respond to support requests and communicate important service or policy updates.
  • Comply with legal obligations and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

5. What other members can see

Depending on your settings and participation, other members may see profile details, shared interests, approximate area, activity history or counts, activities you host, and content you deliberately share. Exact activity meeting information and chat access are intended to be limited according to the member’s relationship to that activity, such as host, approved participant or non-participant.

Do not post sensitive personal information, private addresses, financial details or another person’s information without permission.

6. When information is shared

  • With other members as necessary for discovery, activity coordination and features you choose to use.
  • With the hosting, infrastructure, email, notification and mapping providers currently needed to operate the Service, subject to their own processing terms and appropriate obligations.
  • When required by law, legal process or a valid government request, or when reasonably necessary to protect people, rights, safety and the integrity of the Service.
  • As part of a merger, financing, acquisition, restructuring or sale, subject to applicable law and appropriate notice.
  • With your direction or consent.

7. Location and mapping services

Location helps AldSocial show relevant activities and people nearby. You can deny device location permission and may still enter a locality manually, although nearby features may be limited.

Map and geocoding features may send a place query or coordinates to a mapping provider. Their handling of information is governed by their own policies.

8. Retention and deletion

You can delete your account in the app, under Settings → Delete Account. For deletion assistance or urgent erasure requests, email privacy@aldsocial.com. See our Account Deletion page for how it works. Signing out or stopping use does not itself delete an account.

Confirming deletion closes your account immediately. You have 30 days to explicitly restore it; signing in alone does not restore it. Your hosted plans close, and you leave joined activities. Restoring does not reopen those plans or reset profile-change limits. After 30 days, erasure of your personal data begins and is tracked until complete.

Personal account information, such as contacts, profile details, location, preferences and sign-in credentials, is removed during erasure. Some shared conversation and activity history remains under “Deleted member” so other members can retain their records. Messages you sent stay in those conversations for the others, shown as from “Deleted member”, until the conversation’s own retention removes them, and in any case no later than 180 days after erasure, when they are replaced by “Message removed”. Retained message text may itself identify someone; it is not described as anonymous. Rejoining after permanent erasure creates a new account without access to the old one.

Limited deletion, security and audit records may remain for recovery, accountability or legal obligations: security events for 90 days, and deletion and administrative records, which hold no profile content, for one year. Backups expire under their retention schedule, and deletion records are used to reapply completed actions after a backup recovery. Copies already received or saved by others may remain outside our control; copies in other members’ apps change to “Deleted member” when those apps next sync, and offline copies are not removed.

9. Your choices and rights

  • Review and update eligible profile and preference information in the app.
  • Control device permissions, notifications, discovery and visibility settings where available.
  • Request access, correction, deletion or a copy of your information, subject to applicable law. Not all shared records disappear when an account is deleted; see the retention section above.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; this does not affect earlier lawful processing.
  • See our Account Deletion page for how to delete your account in the app.

10. Security and international processing

We use administrative, technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect information. No service can guarantee absolute security, so protect your credentials and tell us promptly about suspected unauthorised access.

The Service may remember your session in your browser. Activity message text stored in the browser cache is encrypted, but a browser session can still provide access to your account while it remains signed in. Use a trusted, updated browser, protect access to your device and sign out when using a shared device.

Authorised AldSocial personnel and service providers may access information when necessary to operate, secure, support or legally administer the Service. Access is intended to be limited to a legitimate purpose and protected by appropriate safeguards.

Information may be processed in countries other than where you live. Where required, we use recognised safeguards for international transfers.

11. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the Service changes. If we introduce analytics, advertising or another use of personal data that materially changes the practices described here, we will update this policy and provide any notice required before that change takes effect. We will revise the date above when this policy changes. Read the plain-language Privacy, Safety & Security Centre, or send privacy questions and requests to privacy@aldsocial.com through our Contact page.
